I have awakened to the fact that I have been distracted easily while surfing the internet. I did not realize how much time was wasted unnecessarily surfing from here to there. Before embarking on Alex Jeffreys course I can remember drifting from site to site. One stop specifically caught my attention with fish of all things. After playing with the fish awhile and looking at the clock afterwards the realization of how quick time zipped past me set in. I have decided to include those fish here as a reminder. These fish or any flashy distraction will not keep me focused on my Online Internet Marketing plans.
Those darn gadgets! Okay, it is time for a new mindset. I have been busy cleaning up my work area. No more shortcuts taking up my desktop screen. Yes, a little over half my screen had shortcuts I never revisited … GONE … Just a sign of a messy mind and no focus! I’m working on my personal, entrepreneur and business goals. I have been doing a brain dump and getting everything on paper. Whew! My mind is cluttered; next task is organizing these thoughts and bringing structure. I have added my personal pledge to the About Julie page; take a look if you haven’t seen it yet!
As Mentor Alex said, “Small actions everyday lead to results.”

Hey Julie,
Those fish are cool – and you can feed them as well! Hours of fun, err.. distraction!
It is hard to change the way you work, especially if you are used to being distracted every five minutes but getting everything down on paper and creating a focused, prioritised “to do” list is a great start!

Hi Julie,
Great post, and a really good start to your blog.
I’m sure everyone is guilty of wasting numerous hours surfing and looking at ‘other’ stuff, I know I am!
Like you say, if we just focus and de-clutter our minds that is ten times more than we have done before. Alex really is a great leader, and I know he will take us all to places we never thought possible!
Keep in touch

!!!! Don’t feed the fish!!!!
Hi David and Paul,
Paul, I agree Alex has charted and presenting a process that will take us to new places
Your right David the “to do” list is the jumping off point. This has become a challenge for me just to get thing out on paper! Of course, I have been taking action along the way.

Hey Julie
First piece of advice get rid of the stupid security code thing if you want more comments. People hate those things and some will not comment if you use one. I know its a spam prevention, but there are very good spam filters available that do not use the stupid thing.
Ok enough lecture. Nice looking blog, I like your header and your main page is really unique.
Getting organized and planning is the main key to success.

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for stopping in and checking out the post. I have taken your advice and remove the “Simple CAPTCHA” plug-in and replaced it with a more user friendly plug-in “CommentLuv.”
Let me know if Akismet is a sufficient spam filter.
Of course, if anyone else has an option please let me know.
I’m learning here

Hey Julie,
I couldn’t resit playing with the fish, the poor black fish kept missing out..
I used to drift from site to site, email after email. All that has stopped since I started the coaching, I feel like a weight has been lifted.
Askimet works ok for me, the odd good comment gets labelled as spam once in a while, but I have moderation anyway. & if you approve a comment that has been marked spam, askimet is supposed to learn from it’s mistake.
You did the right thing getting rid of the captcha, those things are a pain in the behind.
I’m going to add comment luv to mine too I think.
Nice blog btw,
Paul.

Hey Julie,
I like the clearing the desktop.
I spent about 30 minutes getting rid of my favorites the other day I was still checking what links still worked and to see if I would ever use the site again.
Think I should just clear them all,
Great post Take it easy,

Hi Julie,
What a great blog-I absolutely love it! This is a post that I can relate to…way too much messing around. (Those fish are fun, though)
Because of this post, I have deleted a bunch of junk from my computer, also. Just HOW do we accumulate all of this stuff?
Keep up the wonderful posts, Julie-I wish you the best!
Take care,
Joann

Hi Guys, thanks for stopping by
Paul, Paul, Paul – I hope you did not spend much time with “Blackie,” they are here as a reminder of what not to do! Thanks for your feedback on Askismet because I don’t want to load my site with a lot of plugins.
Hey James – Clearing my desktop was very strange for me since I loved to surf and learn. I actually reviewed all my bookmarks, feeds and emails and keep about 1/8 in a spreadsheet. For now I’m focused on my business plan, but talk about a summer cleaning. I just never thought about cleaning this way before!

Hey Joann – Just missed you…
Thanks for you kind comments. I was just responding to James about the same thing. I don’t know about you or anyone else but I just never thought about cleaning this way.
Maybe this is a virtual cleansing LOL!

Hi Julie,
This is a great post because I think every single one of us could relate to. Focusing is something that I slip in and out of, so I’ve actually written reminders in my office to remind me.
By the way, I just spent about 30 secs playing with those fish. They’re dangerous!
Take care,
Joe Fier

I have never been so productive as with planning the way my mentor, Alex Jeffrey, teaches it.
I think this will have a huge impact on my online ventures this year.

And I loved the fish!

Hi Julie,
great blog ! I agree with your post, so many distraction can take our focus away from the desired goal.
That’s why i make sure i can see my to do list at all time while working in my home office.
Cheers

Hi Guys,
Well Gil – I don’t think I knew what personal productivity was until the course!
And Ron – I’m learning from how you and everyone in the course can keep so focused

I am a student of Alex Jeffreys I have been looking around at fellow students blogs and came across yours. Definitely one of the best. I felt I had to leave a comment because your blog is simply, so inspirational and informative, It has given me hope and ideas to better mine.
It is so clean and fresh looking. I am always worried I overdo it myself, to much content you know. Your blog is just right. I would appreciate if you would pass comment on mine just to confirm I haven’t overdone it. On my blog I am doing a theme on successful internet marketers. Really like to know what you think as I am pretty new to all this layout stuff. I hope one day that I can write about your internet success. Keep up the good work

Hey Julie,
How right you are – and I have to admit to doing exactly the same thing.
Not now though. I plan the night before the following morning, strictly do my emails once for 20 mins, then shut that off and get on with my plan.
Good advice and BTW – Loving the blog theme.
Andrew.
